Animation Director, Illustrator and avid GIF creator Sharon Liu specialises in handcrafted techniques that include traditionally and digitally hand-drawn, oil paint, watercolour, charcoal and mixed media animation. With a soft and gentle hand-made approach to her work, Sharon manages to bring to life a style that is delicate yet bold, whilst her organic techniques always trigger an emotional connection to each one of her intricately crafted pieces.
She loves to explore and experiment with various visual styles and colour palettes and has a fondness for using those to bring to life her GIFs, where there is an excitement in conveying a message in just a few brief moments.
Her short films have won awards at national and international festivals including Annecy, Hiroshima, Leipzig International Film Festival and London International Animation Festival to critical acclaim. ‘Ash to Art’ was finalised at Cannes Lions (Film Craft category) and won Silver at the Creativepool Annual Awards.
Sharon loves to craft and build on scripts which have an underlying positive tone and project forward-thinking messages. She also has an undying love for our four-legged feline friends, cats.
