Olga Makarchuk

Olga Makarchuk is an Animation Director whose work is defined by bold storytelling, expressive characters and a love of the unexpected. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she has been creating distinctive animated worlds, always looking for fresh, unconventional ways to bring ideas to life. With a background in hand-drawn animation and stop motion, Olga blends traditional craft with digital techniques, working across 2D, mixed media, live action and 3D. She's fascinated by animation's ability to transform even the most complex subjects into stories that feel engaging, human and full of personality.

Alongside her award-winning short films that have screened and recognized at animation festivals around the world, her portfolio includes projects for The New York Times, Stripe, BBC, Greenpeace, The School of Life and Oxford University Museums.

Away from the screen, Olga draws inspiration from music, graphic novels and the humour hidden in everyday life — bringing curiosity, warmth and a playful perspective to every project she directs.
