Husband and wife tandem Karni & Saul have been crafting together since 2014, delivering a perfect blend of arrestingly fresh aesthetics and groundbreaking creative approaches to campaigns and executions across a whole host of markets and audiences. They run a boutique animation studio Sulkybunny in Bristol, where they live with their two boys, working out of a wooden ski chalet surrounded by cherry trees but no snow. Karni & Saul create mixed media films, commercials, and music videos, making what they call “Casual fantasy” films, merging beautiful photography and film with high-end animation and magical elements. Visual pleasure and emotional narrative are essential for them.
They have been lucky to work with some innovative brands like Nokia, Sainsbury's, Maynards, and the BBC and directed a collection of beautiful music videos for talented artists such as The Staves, Katie Melua and Jack Savoretti, among others.
Karni & Saul's work has won awards at Annecy, Clermont Ferrand, The British Animation Awards and many others. Their short film ”Turning” got nominated for a BAFTA, and the second short film, “Flytopia”, has toured the international festivals circuit and been screened worldwide.
Karni & Saul have been working on an ambitious new project for the BFI titled “‘Wild Summon”, released later this year. Karni also founded the global photographer's platform “Eye Mama”, which has received broad exposure in the international press, such as National Geographic and Vogue magazine.
