Hylton Tannenbaum

Hylton began shooting films when he was 10 years old, using his Dad’s Super 8mm film camera and casting his family, friends and pets in his movies. After university, he studied advertising and then went to film school. Hylton has directed over 200 commercials in the last 20 years, and has shot work for almost every South African ad agency and some international ones too. Never wanting to be pigeonholed into a specific style, Hylton has built up a diverse range of directing abilities but favours performance, humour and storytelling. He has picked up several awards over the years. Most recently, his CANSA ‘Testimonals’ work won at Cannes (two Silver Lions), Clios (Silver) and The Loeries (three Golds, two Silvers and a Bronze).
