Here are some examples of birds and other flying creatures in motion. We would propose taking a basic existing element we have of a canary and putting the resource into tweaking that to get the face of our hero to be emotionally engaging to the viewers. This will be key! Our hero needs to be friendly and to a level concerned when things are not great. Next phase will be the 'look' of the bird. This means we would focus on the texture of the feathers and the lighting on the surface. We want this to look premium and high end as it will be displayed large, so small details will be important. It's all in the finish to make it look real.
Finally, personality in flight is vital so we will ensure we explore and bring our hero to life in a realistic way. We can have a different level of dynamic movement when he or she is happy with the air pollution levels Vs a negative side of the spectrum.
In spots below, look out for:
Ribena - bird at 20 secs, also really good for reference of realistic animals.
CGI Character Reel- 4 secs - humming bird in flight
Tornado- Owl & Chicken too (stylised not photoreal).
Freederm- Birds! (stylised not photoreal).
Macabees- Good example of animation/realistic movement for the moth character which will be key for our bird.
